— You'll Love it Here!—

Located thirteen miles from Boonville, and twenty six miles from Columbia, Fayette is a small gem set amidst rolling farmland. Unlike many small rural communities, Fayette is thriving. Our Downtown is a part of the National Main Street Program. We have a new 27,000-square-foot supermarket that opened in July of 2007.

Fayette is a friendly town of 2,800 people, including 800 university students. It is the county seat of Howard County and home to Central Methodist University. The city is rich in history, with many of the older homes and buildings listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Stroll around our courthouse square and visit our Main Street shops, art galleries and restaurants. If you’d rather be enjoying the great outdoors, head to D.C. Rogers Lake or Peters Lake where you will find camping and picnicking facilities, a frisbee-golf course, and a boat ramp. The lakes provide fishing opportunities for largemouth bass, channel catfish, crappie, bluegill, and carp. Fayette also has an outdoor swimming pool that is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

We hope to see you soon. Fayette proves that good things do come in small packages.

Mayor, City of Fayette
